Environmental concept art focuses on creating an environment that will be used in concept designs or illustrations for film industries or video games. We can see its origin from landscape painting and architecture design. However, environmental concept art considers more practical factors than landscape painting, such as lighting, multiple viewpoints and background information. Good environmental concept art may reflect the character's personality and support the plot developing. Yet it does not necessarily be logical and practicle as architecture design does, as long as it can direct the scenery building process. Nowadays, using 3d or partially using 3d as lighting or materialising support become popular, as it is convenient when angle-changing is needed.
